Jason Crandall
Mr. Crandall received his educational training at Utah State University where he obtained a degree in finance in 1995, and at Brigham Young University School of Law where he obtained his J.D. in 1998, and the University of Washington School of Law where he obtained a Masters of Law in taxation in 1999. Prior to establishing Sumsion & Crandall, Jason was associated with the law firms of Robinson, Seiler & Glazier in Provo, Utah, and Bennett, Tueller, Johnson & Deere in Salt Lake City, Utah. Jason concentrates his practice on providing business, tax and estate planning services to small business owners, professionals, and individuals.
Grant Sumsion
Mr. Sumsion’s practice is focused on business litigation, insurance coverage disputes, employment issues, mediation, arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. Upon entering Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School, Grant’s two claims to fame were that he had achieved a score of 48 (out of 48 possible) on the Law School Admissions Test, and he was absolutely bald as a result of chemotherapy treatment for leukemia. Grant served as a Lead Editor of the Brigham Young University Law Review and graduated in 1992 as a member of the Order of the Coif. Immediately following law school Grant took a position with the Phoenix firm of Beus, Gilbert & Morrill. Grant’s experience has included working at large and medium sized firms in Salt Lake City and Phoenix and in the Utah Attorney General’s employment section. Grant enjoys spending time with his wife, Judy, and five daughters -- particularly if it involves getting outdoors for horseback riding, camping, or any excuse to spend time in Hobble Creek Canyon, where his family has raised cattle and horses for more than 100 years.
The Firm
Prior to forming Sumsion & Crandall, both Grant Sumsion and Jason Crandall had worked for Salt Lake City firms that were leaders in their respective practice areas. They formed their new firm out of a desire to continue providing top quality legal representation in Utah County. They recognized not only the tremendous growth potential of Utah County’s legal needs, but the existing businesses and individuals that were either not receiving appropriate legal assistance, or were forced to travel to Salt Lake to obtain it.
Both Mr. Sumsion and Mr. Crandall continue to represent diverse clients from across the state, but now are able to do it from a base within their own community. Mr. Crandall’s practice is focused on business, tax, and estate planning. This includes representation of clients in a wide variety of transactions, as well as counseling regarding the formation of various business and estate entities (trusts, corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, charitable foundations, etc.). Mr. Sumsion is experienced in various forms of dispute resolution. These include litigation of business and personal disputes, resolution of employment disputes, and mediation and arbitration in all manner of disagreements.
